Slate cards, where parties or groups put out a list of candidates, are nothing new.
But the one below, which hit GOP homes last week and was funded by a Harry Reid pal, is obviously intended to give lieutenant governor candidate Sue Lowden a last-minute boost. Look at that description of her decades of contributing to GOP candidates. I wonder why that is in there.
I wonder if Michael McDonald has been to Waterloo. Or....how many times.
Good morning, everyone. I am not sure what day it is, dear Flashees, as I have been crying and drowning my sorrows in Glenlivet for nearly 24 hours, since I first learned that Reince Priebus had destroyed by dream of GOP 2016. Please excuse any incoherence below – may be more than usual. I still think Nevada could have overcome image problems if the money had been there – you couldn’t spare $100 mil, Sheldon? – although fixing the venue problem might have killed us even if we had the money. The...
TONIGHT'S RALSTON REPORTS: The state role in med pot.
DAYS UNTIL EARLY VOTING BEGINS FOR PRIMARY ELECTION: 2
DAYS UNTIL PRIMARY ELECTION DAY 2014: 19
DAYS UNTIL GENERAL ELECTION DAY 2014: 166
Good morning, everyone. In which Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid calls an obviously brawny Dana Milbank of The Washington Post a “scrawny” man. Not sure which one was having more fun.
Speaking of Reid, who knew that renaming the Redskins was a...
Good morning, everyone. Check this out from The Washington Post: “After years of intraparty turmoil that cost Republicans key races, voters this year are coalescing around the GOP’s strongest candidates ahead of November’s general election, when control of the Senate during President Obama’s final two years in office will be up for grabs.” The full story is here.
That’s about the Senate primaries across the country Tuesday. But I wonder if we will be writing the same thing on June 10, when GOP...
Good morning, everyone. We had two of the three top sheriff’s contenders on “Ralston Reports” last night – all in all, Joe Lombardo said he would rather be in Laughlin. Ted Moody remains the most comfortable on television, and Larry Burns seemed off his game last night. (Ex-Sheriff and Burns shadow Jerry Keller apparently told my producer later I must have been paid off by the Lombardo campaign for mentioning him so many times (that he wasn’t there!) and playing his ad (and mocking it!). It’s...
Good morning, everyone. It’s hard to believe that the election essentially begins in five days, the climax of one of the most boring, unrewarding primary seasons in all of the years I have covered politics. What has crystallized in the final weeks is that the Republicans seem destined to create an environment for Lucy Flores to have a chance to win the most important race in the state, the one for the right to oversee a commission no one has heard of and the honor of being Harry Reid’s lead...
Good morning, everyone. In case you haven’t heard, 30 million or so PATRIOTS are descending on DC today to overthrow the government. Or something. Yes, Operation American Springbegins today as WE THE PEOPLE begin the process to TAKE BACK AMERICA! We cannot let what happened to ole Cliven stand or America loses!
ICYMI, I talked about this with Rachel Maddow last night.
What’s below: More Jay Brown, less unemployment, shining Heller and a trivia question about an ambitious former elected official...
Good morning, everyone. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid took to the Senate floor this morning to attack those two fellows from the Midwest and propose a constitutional amendment to strip the Kochs of their political influence. This was foreshadowed byBuzzFeed’s John Stanton on Wednesday. I don’t think it will pass. This is why you pay me the big bucks, dear Flashees.
Speaking of big bucks, I ran into Karl Rove at CoverEdge studio on Wednesday. He hit me with quite a zinger, I must say. I...
Good morning, everyone. Last night on ”The Daily Show” Jon Stewart devoted an entire segment to making fun of first Harry Reid and then his good friend, Sheldon Adelson. It was scathing and hilarious. Stewart mocked Reid’s ability as an orator (who hasn’t) and then the majority leader’s stunning “Don’t pick on Adelson” statement, which others (yes, moi) have mocked. Definitely worth taking five minutes or so to watch.
A couple of quibbles, though, Mr. Stewart: Adelson does not “own” Las Vegas...
Good morning, everyone. Last night on “Ralston Reports,” we took a deeper look into this amazing lawsuit. It still stuns me that after seven-plus years, it would come to light that employer lobbyists have been trying to water down the minimum wage constitutional amendment. Well, not water down: Undermine, subvert, erase even. A law changed by administrative action? Welcome to Nevada.
I’m not that surprised that the media so far have ignored this suit and others that have been filed against...
