After eight days of early voting and mail balloting, a strikingly small number of voters are poised to decide two mayoral races and one key Las Vegas council race.
If this doesn't make the case for even-numbered muni elections (still the Legislature gently sleeps), I don't know what does:
►North Las Vegas mayor: 3,462, or 4 percent
Overall turnout in 2009: 12.7 percent
►Henderson mayor: 6,976
Overall turnout in 2009: 14.7 percent, or 5 percent

After Steven Brooks was taken for a mental health evaluation in January when police found him brandishing a sword at a relative's home, his colleagues began considering legislation to reform the so-called Legal 2000 process.
One of the results was Assembly Bill 287, which defines how involuntary commitments would work.
But the bill -- and the issue -- is not without controversy. And on Friday afternoon, Dr. Coni Kalinkowski, the medical director of Mojave Adult, Child and Family Services,...
If you want to see Gondolier Numero Uno Sheldon Adelson's testimony in that breach of contract lawsuit by a former Sands consultant, you can.

Let's take a look:
►Heck's statement explaining...
I was watching “The Agenda" today and listening to progressive activist Howard Watts III hype SJR 15 to remove mining taxation from the Constitution, and it spurred me to think of all the ways, some of them dangerous, that this issue is misunderstood.
SJR 15 is being seen by the Left as some kind of litmus test for taking on the mining industry. But it is a much smaller part of the picture than you might think.
How so?
Herewith are 10 musings about misconceptions and history:
1. SJR 15...
That's the gist of an answer from legislative lawyers to the writ filed by troubled Assemblyman Steven Brooks at the state Supreme Court.
The highlights, with page numbers of the 45-page document, which is attached here:
