After getting destroyed in Clark County by Team Sanders, Team Clinton is taking no chances. I told you Wednesday about the initial contact, which was a mixed message of filing grievances and preparing for the May 14 state convention. On Thursday, the campaign, which allowed many of its delegate slots to be filled by Sanders folks, reached out to alternate delegates for a conference call. It's all hands on deck. Hello!   I am happy to inform you that you have been selected to represent Clark...
Hillary Clinton's Nevada campaign sent out a missive to delegates Wednesday evening, asking them to fill out grievance forms to gauge the level of irregularities at last weekend's county conventions but also promising an "aggressive volunteer outreach plan" for the state confab May 14. Clinton was crushed by Sanders in Clark County, with reports of odd emails, incomplete lists and bias toward Sanders obviously still rankling her Nevada team. But the Nevada Clinton folks also want to try to...
Democrats added about 12,000 voters to their statewide registration advantage over Republicans last month, benefiting from thousands of voters who registered at the Feb. 20 caucus. This not only potentially changes the statewide dynamic in the presidential and U.S. Senate races -- Democrats now have a 60,000-voter lead -- but also affected key areas down the ticket, including competitive congressional districts -- CD3, Rep. Joe Heck's seat, now has 3,300 more Democrats than Republicans, and CD4...
The two likely nominees for the right to succeed Rep. Joe Heck are in a dead heat, according to a poll taken by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The survey, taken last week, shows synagogue chief Jacky Rosen ahead of state Senate Majority Leader Michael Roberson, 30 percent to 29 percent. The poll of 403 CD3 voters has a margin of error of 4.9 percent. The polling memo, which I have obtained and is posted here (I've also seen the entire poll), paints a very optimistic picture,...
WELCOME TO THE WEEKLY REPORT This week: 1. Could Tark win? 2. Sbaih vs. Reid 3.  Who is the most feared Nevadan in a political fight – Reid, Adelson, Sandoval or someone else? 4. Smartest-dumbest moves of the week Lots of surprise at and criticism of Hillary’s stunning showing at the Clark County Democratic convention Saturday, lots of fear still out there for Prince Harry and skepticism he said exactly what Sbaih said he said (and general consensus that Sbaih is now toast if he wasn’t already...
Despite losing the state on Feb. 20 in the caucus, Bernie Sanders' campaign swarmed the Clark County caucus and probably flipped two delegates from Hillary Clinton's camp. Clinton was presumed to have a 20-15 delegate edge after the caucus based on her 5 percentage point win in the caucuses. But because the caucus process allows some delegates to be unbound, 12 of those were up for grabs at the 17 county conventions Saturday. Sanders had 600 more delegates in Clark on Saturday despite losing...
The Hillary Clinton campaign has sent a letter to Clark County Democratic Party officials demanding the removal of the credentials chairman for Saturday's convention that will choose delegates to the state convention next month who could go to Philadelphia this summer. The board met last night and the situation boiled over with the credentials chief, longtime activist Christine Kramar, refusing to leave the room. Here's part of what happened, another reminder that these things are run by...
Two days before the Washoe County Republican Party convention, Ted Cruz's campaign is calling delegates, who could go on to the state and then national conventions. 1. Very smart. No sign of Trump. (UPDATED: One delegate told me Trump is indeed making calls.) 2. Very painful to hear the Cruz operative mangle the name of the state. "It's time for Ne-vah-duh Republicans to unite behind Ted Cruz...." Ugh. Message attached here.
The great folks over at Ballotpedia have produced some stats about Nevada's legislative races, which they have kindly shared with me and I now, equally kindly, share with you. I still have to get used to 24-17-1 in the Assembly, although that will change after Libertarian John Moore is erased in November.  Check it out (UPDATED WITH CHART, 12:30 PM, 3/31/16):   Elections Primary: June 14 Candidates filed: 69D and 91R candidates running for 53 seats   Current chamber control Senate: 10...
Danny Tarkanian is dominating the GOP primary field in the race for Rep. Joe Heck's seat, an unsurprising result based on his overwhelming name recognition that has often buoyed him early in previous contests. The survey, taken by Tarkanian campaign firm Chariot LLC, shows Tarkanian at 37 percent, followed by Assemblywoman Michele Fiore at 11 percent and state Senate Majority Leader Michael Roberson at 9 percent. The others candidates barely registered. The poll also showed Donald Trump...
